This series of mini-paintings began in December 2020.  Lockdown.  I found a lockdown poetry group on Facebook that provided the inspiration; writing out four poems on paper and collaging them (backwards) onto the canvases.  I added figures and other collage pieces cut out from packing paper I had painted with left-over paint.  I got a new commission, so these canvases lay dormant.  Fast forward to October 2022.  A colleague I once worked with sadly passed away.  She had been suffering from long covid and had spent quite some time in a rehabilitation centre.  I felt the need to return to these pieces.

Life in lockdown is my retrospective.

Keep 2 m apart with all its spots and arrows, many still visible in our shops and public spaces.  Don’t forget your mask!

Bubbles reflects the time we were allowed outside in small groups of family or support bubbles, while some were still struggling on alone.

The other 23 hours is a reminder of the time we were only allowed out for one hour of exercise a day.

And Clap for carers finds community from the crisis, and a time for neighbours to learn just that little bit more about each other on their doorsteps,  Thursdays at 8pm.
