Quick studio update
I bought a little teapot (when I say little, it's clearly a one-cup pot), from the charity shop. It's very cute and inadvertently found its way into the focus of my 30-day sketchbook challenge. This started in February and I've only got to day 20 so far. But I will finish the challenge. Here are some of my favourite pages.
This leads nicely into Gabriella's still life course. I loved this letterbox drawing I made with inktense pencil and a water brush. I found a letterbox shaped canvas, now primed and ready to go.
I've also been working on some Morocco-based pieces and managed to finish the mini-est mini concertina book, filled with things I love (pattern and pots) along with memories of the holiday from February 2024
I'm still running gel plate printing workshops in the Swansgate Centre in Wellingborough. My next one is Tuesday 11 March, 10:30 – 12:30, currently there are 2 spaces available.
Once our time in Wellingborough is over, I will still be running workshops from my home studio. I am, however, increasing the price of my workshops to £50 for a 2-hour session. You can find out more on my workshops page. If you were thinking of booking a workshop with me, book and pay before 31 April to get your 2-hour session for the current price of £30 per person. The workshop date itself can be after 31 April.
I'm also offering a new workshop (it's so new it's not been added to the website yet): Gel plate printing with home-made masks and stencils inspired by nature:
Workshop updates
We will use photographs as inspiration to create shapes for cutting both masks and a stencil from paper or card and create beautiful layered prints, combined with textures from household objects
Website shop updates
It's been on my to-do list for over a year now. To make it easier to navigate the shop part of my website as well as offer a way to pay online (at least for those of you in the UK, to start with)...
The first stage will be to simplify my current shop page. It will just contains a few of my favourite paintings for sale. There will be one "enquire about a painting" button, which will open a new email for you to tell me which painting you would like to buy – or just to ask me a question, for example about shipping fees. After that I hope to be squirrelling away in the background on a new shop structure. Updates will be provided on the website and in my newsletters... stay tuned!
Before this update process starts, I'd like to offer you the opportunity to browse the current pieces available. If you would like one of my paintings, contact me via the website (buy / enquire button) and mention the code 'subscriber20' for a 20% discount. It applies to all pieces before the update, even new paintings! {note if you’re not already a subscriber, use the form at the bottom of this page to sign up}
If you've had your eye on something this is the best time to buy as when the new shop is ready, my prices are likely to have increased as well!
Featured painting
Eden View
Acrylic and collage on canvas
£250 (£200 with 'subscriber20')
–excludes shipping
Framed size: 49.5 x 39.5 cm in a simple white wood tray frame.
The inspiration was the structure of the biomes of the Eden project, looking up at the viewing platform from inside. I find it fascinating how pentagons and hexagons create such an organic bubble shape.
Bye for now,
Lucy
