What happened to June?

Exhibitions

Two of my new prints, Teapot and Mug, were selected for the Inaugural Yardley Arts Summer Open 2026. The exhibition opened last week. If you're local it's well worth a visit, some wonderful work in a lovely setting: Thursdays to Sundays, 11am – 5pm until 19 July.

Lucy Mathers' painting called Teapot. A monotype print made on the gel printing plate using a laser image transfer of original artwork onto a teabag chine collé. The edges of the paper have been deckled. The painting is float mounted.

Three paintings were delivered to the Rooftop Arts Summer Exhibition in Corby.

The exhibition opens this weekend and is on until the 29 August, Wednesdays to Saturdays, 11am – 4pm.

Lucy Mathers' painting called Tom's Cottage Garden. A mixed media painting of agapanthus flowers in purples and greens in the background with larger agapanthus flower shapes outlined by dark blue in the foreground.
Lucy Mathers' painting called In the fields. A mixed media painting with collage and inks, black India ink drips can be interpreted as field shapes along side circles all coloured in various pinky browns and greens. Float mounted in black frame.

In the studio

Well apart from last week, which was a bit of a write-off due to the heat, I've been continuing working on paintings inspired by the Cube houses in Rotterdam.

I have 8 paintings on the go, in various stages of complete-ness and I'm just hoping I can get them all as close to the finish line as possible before the summer holidays.

My plan to talk about the development of ideas in a youTube video has not yet materialised, maybe that's a job for the holidays... but you can always hit reply if you have any questions!

So, just a little update from me on the last day of the month. Let's hope July doesn't run away so fast.

Please let me know if you get to see either exhibition, I'd love to hear your views.

Bye for now,

Lucy
